Nietes guns for WBO light flyweight crown

MANILA, Philippines – Former world champion Donnie "Ahas" Nietes guns for a 2nd world title when he challenges Mexico’s Ramon Garcia Hilares for the WBO light flyweight title on September 10.
Nietes, who relinquished his WBO minimumweight title to campaign in the 108-pound class, said he will again rely on his trademark speed when he fights Hilares.
"Hirales may be strong, but I believe I'm the smarter and faster fighter," he said inBoxingScene.com.
Nietes feels comfortable fighting as a light flyweight.
He is confident that the added weight won’t affect his speed and punching power.
"I feel great at 108 [lbs]. Much better than at 105," Nietes said.
The fight is scheduled to take place at the University of St. La Salle Gym in his home town Bacolod.
He said his local fans will be in for a treat.
"I won't predict how I'm gonna win. But after the fight, I will be a 2-division world champion," said Nietes.
