De Guzman, who has been composing and writing songs since high school, said he composed some of the tracks included in the album.
He admitted that it took some time before he finished the album because of his acting project.
"Number one priority ko talaga ang pag-arte ko, 'yun ang craft ko as an actor. Noong in-offer sa akin ang album, nagdalawang-isip ako kasi baka makasagabal o malito ang tao," he said in an interview during a press conference for his debut album.
"Inisip ko ite-take ko na lang siya (album) as a challenge. At the same time nagagawa ko ang dalawang bagay na gusto ko (singing and acting)."
Aside from original compositions, de Guzman's album also has the actor's renditions of "Carried Away," "Bizarre Love Triangle," "Collide," "Kiss Me," "True," "Pagdating ng Panahon" and "Give You the World."
Now that he is part of the local music industry, de Guzman said he hopes to be part of ABS-CBN's musical variety show, "ASAP Rocks."
Currently, de Guzman is gearing up for the finale of "Mula sa Puso" on Friday, August 12. He is also set to do an independent film.
